A Game-Changing VoiceOver Tip + Explore Careers: Trade Win Internship + Vision Simulator Giveaway Winners

How the New iPhone Action Button Makes VoiceOver More Convenient Than Ever!

Apple’s latest iPhones come with an exciting new Action Button, and for users who are blind or visually impaired, this feature can be a game-changer for quickly turning VoiceOver on and off. If you’ve ever struggled or wished for a faster way to toggle VoiceOver, the Action Button might be the perfect solution.

What Is the Action Button?

The Action Button replaces the traditional ring/silent switch on iPhone 15 pro models and all 16 series models. Instead of just silencing your phone, this button can be customized to perform multiple different actions, such as launching the camera, turning on the flashlight, and my favorite—toggling accessibility features like VoiceOver!

Why This Is a Game-Changer for VoiceOver Users

Many VoiceOver users rely on the triple-click Side Button shortcut to enable or disable VoiceOver. While this works well, it can sometimes be inconsistent—especially if another accessibility shortcut is also assigned. The Action Button simplifies this by allowing you to dedicate a single physical button to VoiceOver, making it a faster and more reliable option.

How to Set Up the Action Button for VoiceOver

1 - Open Settings on your iPhone.
2 - Scroll down to Action Button
3 - Scroll right and choose Accessibility.
4 - Select VoiceOver as the assigned action.

That’s it! Now, pressing and holding the Action Button will turn VoiceOver on or off instantly—no more triple-clicking, talking to Siri, or searching through settings.
