Tip of the Day #20 – Don’t Do This With A White Cane (Part 2)

Red Stop Sign

Today’s tip of the day is simple and easy but also very important. And my tip is you should never use a white cane to point at things. As an O&M instructor, I have had to dodge quite a few canes being swung around by my students who were trying to point at something. I have also seen some close calls with pedestrians almost getting hit. If you need to point at something I highly recommend using your hand that is not holding the cane and even then be careful on how wide and fast you point.

For another thing, you should not do with a white cane check out Part 1 by clicking here

I hope this tip of the day was helpful. If you are interest in my full list of my tip of the day blogs and videos click here.
