Tip of the Day #8 – Avoid Bumping into Door Frames

In today’s tip of the day, I will be sharing a tip to help avoid bumping into door frames. Many of the clients I have worked with at some point have the experience bumping into a doorframe. This could be for many reasons but for people who are low vision or visually impaired who have some functional vision it may be due to poor color contrast. Today’s tip may be a good solution for this group of people.

Adding coloring contrasting tape is cheap, easy, and effective. What color a person chooses depends heavily on what color stands out the most for them as well as the color of the door frame they are trying to mark. I recommend trying different colors and heights on where the tape is placed to find what works best.

I hope this tip was helpful. I would love to hear from you if you have any other tips that you think would be good to share with the world. Please feel free to comment or email me at blindonthemove@gmail.com
